Don VALENTIN BIANCHI arrived in Argentina in the year 1910 from his native Italy. He was formed in the best school, the discipline of hard work, and with that enormous capital his struggle commenced. It was a stage of pure sacrifice, constant hard work, a privation of all that makes life pleasant. In the little luggage he brought with him was his degree as an elementary school teacher, his letter of introduction for his ambitions. His first job was in the accountancy section of the State Railways. Later on he kept the books for various enterprises and was also administrative employee in the French Bank in the San Rafael branch. Being an enterprising man of goodwill, he participated in community affairs, thus becoming a councilor of the Municipal Council of San Rafael in 1921, after which he put all his enthusiasm into auctioneering in San Rafael and General Alvear. His constant and enthusiastic search for progress then took him to constructions and, under the auspices of the San Rafael Municipality, he became a constructor. As well as being a pioneer of the timber industry, he was also the local agent of various manufacturers of farming machinery, cars, trucks, and so on.

In 1925 he founded a bus service joining the departments of San Rafael and General Alvear. And so we arrive at the year 1928, marked in his life, when he brings into conformity what had always seemed to be an achable dream, that of possessing his own vineyard and small winery. Having reached this goal, he was now out to conquer new horizons. This small winery was at first known as "El Chiche" which produced fine wines starting with Superb Medoc and then continuing with Riesling.

After traversing various difficulties he finally gets his fine wines known in Buenos Aires in 1934 his noble products being consecrated the same year in the Official Wine Exhibition a national event which was held in the city of Mendoza, a where he is awarded the prize of Maximum Quality Exhibit. With the incorporation of his sons the growth of the enterprise is constant until it is transformed into VALENTIN BIANCHI, Director in charge of the bottling plant, ENZO ARNALDO BIANCHI, the enologist responsible for the elaboration of the wines, his son-in-law AURELIO STRADELLA, the Director in change of administration, together with the recent incorporation of new blood in his grandchildren, VALENTIN EDUARDO BIANCHI whose degree is in enology, RICARDO STRADELLA BIANCHI whose degree is in business administration, and ALEJANDRO BIANCHI whose degree is planning of marketing strategic, the dreams of the old emigrant are latent.

Completing this short summary of Don Valentin’s life we must not forget that his personal labour in the winery did not impede him from dedicating himself to the general welfare and enlargement of San Rafael which he dearly loved. In the latter years of his life he was busy planning and forming "El Nihuil S.A." for the construction of the huge hotel which our town deserved, the "Gran Hotel San Rafael". This last dream however he was unable to bring to a happy conclusion as his.
