Vineyard & Production: 40% Syrah, 20% Grenache, 20% Carignan, 10% Cinsault, 10% Counoise All bottles are embossed with the coat of arms of the chateau. Chateau de Mille was the summer residence of the Pope. Matured in oak barrels for 9 months.
Characteristics: Dark ruby colour; very similar to the best wines of Chateauneuf du Pape, it is an opulent wine with a powerful nose of ripe red fruits.
Ratings: Robert Parker rates the chateau as an "excellent producer" and says "The best estate in the Côtes du Lubéron is the Chateau de Mille ... The wine is excellent." Hugh Johnson Encyclopedia of Wines says "Chateau de Mille is the star of the Côtes du Lubéron."
