"An impressive property, Chasse-Spleen has consistently produced fine wine that for the last 3 decades has often been as good as a third-growth. Even in poor and medicore vintages, the wine is characterized by a very pronounced, deep ruby color, a bouquet of plummy ripeness, and rich, round, substantial flavors."

Chateau Chasse-Spleen 1993

(5°Grand Cru Classe)

Wine Spectator: “Plenty of fruit in this one.  Medium-to-full body, berry and cherry flavors, medium-to-full tannins and long finish.  Better in 1998.”

Rated 88 Wine Spectator

Robert Parker: “This estate has produced a good, impressively colored, medium-bodied 1993 with the vintage’s tell-tale, firm, tannic structure, as well as enough fruit and fat for balance.  This wine reveals fine ripeness, extraction, and purity, along with the black fruit character Chasse-Spleen routinely achieves.  It should drink well between 1998-2010.”
