Chateau Lamande 1995

"This wine sneaks up on you to deliver loads of fruit and tannins. Intense aromas of berries and minerals with hints of tobacco. Full-bodied, very velvety, with lovely fruit and tannins. Long, minty-fruity aftertaste. 9,500 cases made."

"The 1995 is cut from the same mold as the 1996, except 1995 possesses more accessible glycerin and fruit, as well as lower acidity. It offers a dense ruby/purple color, and an intense herb, 'pain grillé', jammy blackberry and cassis-scented nose intertwined with wood- fire-like aromas. The wine is soft, round, and medium to full-bodied with a sexy combination glycerin, fruit, sweet tannin, and heady alcohol. It should drink well for 10-12 years."

Chateau Lamande 1998

"If this wine were not so massively tannic, I would have been tempted to pull the trigger and give it an outstanding score. It reveals toasty new oak as well as impressive levels of cassis and black cherry fruit. Consistently well-made, seemingly regardless of vintage conditions, Lamande's 1998 is more powerful and structured than usual, with excellent depth and richness, and an impressively nuanced finish. It should be at its finest between 2003 and 2014."
