| From the rich soils
of South Australia comes a wine from the renowned McLaren Vale stable,
know as Serafino. The relatively new winery has been producing
award-winning wines: The Serafino Cabernet Sauvignon 1999 won gold
medals at Royal Adelaide Wine Show 2000, the 1998 Shiraz got a gold at
Royal Canberra Wine Show 2000, while the Serafino Semillion 2000 bagged
gold at the Royal Melbourne Wine Show 2000.
The main characteristic of this winery is its fruity, thick, full-bodied wines. It is particularly well known for its shiraz and cabernet sauvignon. The cabernet sauvignon, according to the tasting notes, is round and complex, with a good cabernet nose. It shows oak and tobacco flavours, which linger on the nicely proportioned finish. With a balanced palate, this is friendly food-matching wine.

The shiraz gives a mouthful of plum, cherry and pepper flovours, with wood and licorice notes. It's a well-crafted wine that finishes with a pleasant hint of sweetness. Serafino Cabernet Shiraz Merlot 1999 has a dark purple shade, and the taste lingers with an explosion of plum, blackfruit and caramel flavours on the finish, a good blend of the three varieties. The Serafino Semillion 2000 is light and citrusy, highlighting pretty lemon aromas, and is well balanced with a smooth medium-sweet finish and a long aftertaste.
